For the past two years The Business Place Gaborone has donated to Childline Botswana's Safety Haven Centre in Gaborone, a place of safety for abandoned babies. In August 2010 a young Motswana lady decided she wanted to support the centre and organised a sponsored walk from Francistown to Gaborone to raise awareness and funds for the centre. TBP Gaborone staff and some clients participated in part of the walk.
"It was such a pleasure, for the staff and clients, to still embrace the collaboration and a let's do it together attitude, and for the clients to get out of their businesses and support us and Childline. We wanted to walk and we did it. We are not just there for businesses, we are there for the community too."
Boitumelo Marumo-Mthupha, TBP Gaborone branch manager
Now the branch keeps a box in the office where people can donate clothes, formula etc and they will give the contents to the centre just before Christmas.
